OneNote Web Exporter

Dave Tse has created a really cool OneNote Web Exporter and released it via CodePlex (MS Open Source)…

What is this for?
The OneNote Web Exporter allows you to export a OneNote notebook as html files that anybody can view through a web browser.

How does it work?
You give it a OneNote 2007 Notebook and it will generate an html page and a folder containing all of the notebook data.

What can I do with it?

  • Export a notebook when you need to send it to somebody who doesn’t have OneNote 2007
  • Maintain a browser accessible version of your notebook by scheduling a daily export to a SharePoint server

Would it be possible to have the French accentuated characters on the tabs?

An other matter: How many pages is it possible to create in one section? Is there a litmited number? I have noticed that the searching capability fails if the number is too high.

Thank you for help.

I've downloaded it and run the msi, but I can't seem to figure out how to launch it. Is there supposed to be a new menu item in one note or is it a standalone program? I can't seem to find it in any case.

What am I missing?

It's the globe icon to the right of the zoom dropdown box.

See the installation instructions for an image of it ;)

Same problem as datarat: I don't have a globe either?

Problem solved – I had removed the select-a-font scrollbox from the toolbar. I uninstalled Webber, reinstalled, and there was the globe.

Thanks! The icon was hidden as unused, and I wasn't sure what it looked like. Great Plugin!

This is nice, but… is there anywhere a web-standards-compliant cross-browser compatible-HTML4 version? This still outputs the main pages in .mht format, which is basically a bunch of CDATA-enclosed proprietary MS-XML — when boiled down, it just looks like a bunch of tables to me! (I'm not even daring to ask if there's an XHTML non-table something out there…that would be pushing it) But… Does such a thing exist?

Is there a way to get it to work on Vista (Business)?
Cheers!

Is there a way for this to work with vista? When the click on the globe, nothing happens. I can only run the program through the command prompt and it still doesn't produce the correct files.

Stumbled on Potential Solution to the Fading Globe

I had tried several times to get to work on my Vista Business machine with no luck. i tried all the various suggestions bt none seemed too work after hours and hours of trial and error. I would give and go back after a couple of weeks to try again, many times.

Just today I installed the ppTplex tool/toy for MS PowerPoint (from MS OfficeLabs). Fortunately or Unfortunately, I couldn’t get that to work on my vista.

The simple solution was that I turn on Vista’s UAC!!!

What I did is I uninstalled the pptPlex, turned on the UAC, restarted my machine, reinstalled the pptPplex… The pptPlex was now working and so I decided may be I should take another look at the good old Cwebber and voila! it worked.

Hope this works from the remainder of the remaining group that none of the many suggestions worked. I found this solution BTW on the discussion board of OffceLab.
