Today I figured it out. Here's how: All you need to do is go to your user directory as in c:\Users\yourname\favorites\OneNote and there you'll find a list of shortcut links to the favorites you've created. Delete the ones you don't want and you're good to go! I had numerous old links that were important in their day, but now are meaningless.
