I was exploring OneNote and noticed that you can group pages... which converts all of those pages after the first selected item into subpages. So the function provided by this powertoy is actually already present, just not in an easily discoverable way.

I am having the exact same problem with the OneNote Printout Manager as Evan outlined with the Make Subpage powertoy (Evan's post pasted below). I tried John's fix for the Make Subpage powertoy (also pasted below) to no avail with OneNote Printout Manger. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Brandy

Hi,

Thanks for providing such a great tool but I am having some problems using it… I made sure OneNote was completely closed and then I installed the program. I then restarted OneNote 2007, selected a page and clicked on the “make subpage icon”. Nothing happened. The button then faded so that I could not use it. I checked under options and it does show the “make subpage” addin as being installed. I have tried disabling it and then re-enabling it to no avail. I also tried resinstalling the add-in. I really need to be able to use this function for school to properly organize my notes. Please help!

Thanks,

Evan

*****************************************************
I hit the same error just recently. Here’s what I did to fix it.

Exited OneNote.
Ran task manager (right click in a free area of the taskbar and select “Task Manager”) and ensured the process tab did not show OneNote.exe running
uninstalled the addin
looked in windows\assembly folder (which is probably hidden) and deleted the entry for OneNote Make Subpage
reinstalled the addin
made sure the dll was in the installed location (c:\program files\microsoft\make subpage folder) and copied it to the windows\assembly folder as well
start OneNote

This worked for me. Since we cannot tell why this occurs, it’s hard to find a fix for it. Installing our addins to both locations seems to lessen the occurences, though, and we are troubleshooting from that point of view.

Sorry for the poor experience,
John
