Migrate from FlexWiki to OneNote

February20

Joshua Flanagan is working on migrating from FlexWiki to OneNote, so he created a utility to migrate the data. So far he has…

I am making the source code available in the hopes that someone can take it and run with it. Be warned, it is not pretty. It currently only supports the following subset of FlexWiki formatting:

  • Intra-site wiki page links and external hyperlinks. Federated wiki links are not supported.
  • Bold and italic text
  • All headings are simply translated as bold text
  • Bulleted lists (but not nested bulleted lists)
  • Tables

GBM How-To: Add OneNote 2007 Printer as Right-click Send To option

February17

Rob Bushway…

When I saw Warner’s post this morning about the new Send To OneNote 2007 Powertoy, I was a little disappointed that it did not print the file to OneNote. It does send the file as a shortcut to OneNote, but it wasn’t what I was really after. Being a heavy OneNote user on my Tablet PC, I’m always looking for some short-cuts to get documents and stuff printed into OneNote.

So, I went off on a goose chase to figure out how I could easily add a OneNote 2007 printer as a Send-To option, and I figured it out! Having this option will allow you to right click any printable file, go to the Send To option, and choose the OneNote 2007 Printer.

OneNoteGuy points out the obvious…

February14

The Unknown OneNote Guy is starting to use PowerShell (Windows command line scripting) and seeing ways how he could use OneNote 2007 with it.

I’m sure he has more up his sleeve, but the key point that made me laugh today was that it can output to printer and OneNote 2007 installs a printer driver called “Send To OneNote 2007″ so…

Any application that can output to a printer can “Send to OneNote”.

And here is his “powertoy”

I’m making light of this, but for a reason… How many of us are holding out for some really cool “Send To” PowerToy from our favorite app, when we could just use the print driver and image searching in 2007?

Outlook to OneNote AddIn (Outlook “rule”)

February8

John Guin of the OneNote Team has created an Add-In for Outlook to automatically Send To OneNote. His description:

This addin adds the capability of sending yourself email with a certain keyword in the subject and having Outlook automatically create a new page in OneNote’s Unfiled Notes section when that mail item arrives. Outlook then deletes the email. It also allows power users to set the filter used for incoming mail items to trigger the code. It provides no UI for the user: “it just works.”

NOTE:  The source.zip download does not contain a setup.exe file.  Visual Studio is needed to compile it.
