The poll plugin we use, not a political statement.

It got “hacked” by entering a JavaScript statement as an poll entry, which was causing users to get redirected to a search engine. Very annoying.

Without going into details as to avoid filters in a rising dispute on the web… Please check the URL be sure you reading this on or from www.OneNotePowerToys.com or FeedBurner.com, not a spanish .org site or one of the other rising stars in site/feed impersonation.
Our blogs are not profitable and content reposting is not a huge deal for us, but we might join the fight just for the sake of it.

The Unknown OneNote Guy met a woman in the coffee shop who thought OneNote was only for Tablet PC Users. Read his post for the full details, but here’s one of the last paragraphs…

It seems to me that the community and Microsoft needs to somehow change the general perception of OneNote and increase the general public awareness of OneNote. Maybe we need a 12-step program. Maybe we should have the world write on a blackboard (do those even exist anymore?) one-hundred times “OneNote works with a keyboard. OneNote is more than just a note-taking applicatoin.” Maybe that is too harsh. How about a marketing campaign? That is the ticket – instead of doing a Power Toy competitiontion how about a marketing competition?

Sounds like a good idea to me, so I created a poll in the sidebar. OneNote Guy’s three suggestions are there and you can add your own. (no need for addresses though, there is no prizes being awarded!)

Earlier this week, I jumped the gun and wrote about the Ink Blogging Tool going into Beta 2 Testing. I thought it was a powertoy because Matt had been working on a OneNote to WordPress powertoy. However, this is not the case. First, the Ink Blogging Tool was created by Ed Holloway. Second, it is not a powertoy for OneNote but a plug-in for MS Live Writer. The plug-in IS going into Beta 2 and can be found here. No word if the plug-in will support OneNote and I will check with Matt about his powertoy.

In order to keep OneNotePowerToys.com more “pure”, Sid and I created NoteTalkers.com to discuss all the note taking applications we use. While trying to decide on a domain name, I bought OneNote2006.com (before the “Office 2007″ announcement) and haven’t done anything with it.

Prompted in part by Slacker Manager’s “Free For All Friday” and OneNote Guy’s “The OneNote Community” posts, I have installed WordPress and opened it up so everyone who registers is an Author.

Hopefully this will allow the OneNote Community a common place to post, so go register and start posting all your vast knowledge of OneNote for others to read.

Poll Results: Which OneNote Version Do You Use Regularly?

81% of OneNote users preferred using OneNote 2003 vs 19% who preferred using OneNote 2007 Beta. I am not surprised of these results. Until recently, OneNote 2007 was in a closed beta and most OneNote users did not have access to it. However, now OneNote 2007 is a public beta, I wonder if the results would be the same. Look for a similar poll in a month or so.

Blogging Powertoy Cancelled….Maybe?

Matt from Windows With Ink was working on a OneNote to WordPress powertoy. As of today, he will no longer work on it or release it. This is because OneNote 2007 Beta 2 will have blogging support via Word 2007. Click here for information about the OneNote 2007/Word 2007 blogging tool.

Update: Matt wrote back and told me he might finish the work. I encourage all readers to go to his blog and leave a comment and tell him to finish it!
