I’ve been a OneNote user for many years now. I was really disheartened by the fact that free-rotation was not included in the 2010 as a new feature. How long would that take to program as a powertoy? I think thousands of OneNote users who draw diagrams with OneNote would really benefit from a way to rotate a drawing by 15, or 25, or even 1 degree. Please let me know if this is possible!
I agree with Chris! I noticed that on another blogging website similar to this one, there is a rotate image powertoy for OneNote 2007… would it be hard to create one for OneNote 2010?
Bummer- image rotator powertoy does not work. I’m going to have to revert to onenote 2007.
It is amazing image rotation hasn’t been included in this yet. I scan a lot of documents and keep them organized in Onennote- I actually really need this functionality.
I have a problem with onenote. Due to some bad communication between people, I have about four onenote notebooks that need to be synchronised. They all originate from the same notebook, have the same structure but differ slightly in the content.
Is there any way how I can synchronize these four notebooks automatically like the build in sync mechanism when you put the notebook on sharepoint or a server share?
Anything that you could advise?
The site is really useful for everybody. Thanks for that.
I am looking for a way to send copied text from any applications to OneNote. This function is really useful for me. Are our PowerToys developers going to think about such a thing or give me any suggestions? Thanks.
I have installed .Net 4 framework, and then onenote sorting utility. When running for a specific section, pages is sorted perfectly. When trying to sort sections within my notebook (26 sections) I get 2 errors:
“RPC failed”, and then “RPC server is unavailable”
Any suggestions?
Running Laptop with Win 7, Office Professional Plus 2010.
I installed “merge_pages_setup.zip” with Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 awailable as reminded. However it doesn’t work with the alert which reads “HRESULT: 0x8004200B”. This notification always pops up when the system is “counting the selected pages.” Is there other Magic “toy” to that effect? Merging pages is frequently used. Pls help!
My name is Anton Molokoedov. Our team develops a mobile OneNote solution for different platforms, called MobileNoter. We have already released MobileNoter for iPhone, iPad, two versions for Android and our next target is Blackberry. In other words, we are bringing OneNote to platforms that are not owned by Microsoft.
If you want to cover this topic on your website, I will be glad to share all necessary information.
Feel free to write me back.
Thank you!
Hello, I am wondering if there is a powertoy that will allow me to print the structure of my entire notebook (sections and pages). Thanks in advance for your help
I’m still on ON2007, and I do not have Outlook. There are a lot of great features in OneNote, including tagged notes. But the thing that kills me about tagged notes is that, when I “show all tagged notes,” I want to see the title of the page the note (and not just the note itself). Otherwise, to be able to follow up (e.g., “call back in a couple weeks”), I have to go to the note to see that it’s for “So-and-so at Such-a-Place.” I haven’t found a way to do that.
Is there something I’m missing? Am I using it the wrong way? Or is this a development opportunity?
I have hundreds of files in a folder called c:\Data and I use hyperlinks to access them from Onenote 2010. I’d like to move the files to my d drive into a folder called d:\OneNoteData
Is there a way that I can update all my hyperlinks using VBA to save me having to update them all manually? If not VBA can I use any other language?
I use Onenote 2007 especially for taking notes for my doctorate thesis. Usually for extracting notes from pdf files I employ the screen clipping facility. As I paste the notes to a section page, there appears only the date (and the hour) of the clipping operation under the note; but I also need the source -i.e. the name and location of the file on my computer- of the note -as it is always being shown by paste operations from the internet sources. Can that be arranged by a simple alteration in options menu -which I couldn’t find- or is there an add-in to serve this purpose? I’d be glad if someone could help.
I use another note package because I can create a note on my laptop and have it automatically updates the Notes package on my phone. Is this possible with OneNote?
Hi, first – great site – cool tools.
Here is an idea – lot of my training customers are asking for a sync//import/export of OL categories and ON tags/codes.
HELP
I use OneNote to create courses -saving the full notebook as the course. I need the HTML converter for OneNote 2010. Do you know if anyone is working on it?
Thanks…CM
I find it infuriating that the 2010 version font section shows one set of theme colours plus the standard colours but that there is no where what you can change the colour theme being used in the fonts. It seems incongruous to only have one theme available. Are you able to create an add in that allows one to apply other themes already on the pc, being used in the other office programs?
as Jan already mentioned it would be great to have the Outlook categories also in OneNote.
One solution for tasks could be to use the page title from OneNote as categorie when you create an Outlook task.
Maybe this could be the next Powertoy
OneNote 2010 does not convert all internal links in PDF or XPS format correctly. Some are good such as “../FixedDoc.fdoc#PG_2_LNK_1″ others have kept the addresses relative to the original installation “onenote:INDEX.one#section-id={A97B832A-CB36-41A3-8CF9-8272D994406A}&base-path=//VOSTRO/VostroC/_ma/Support”.
I am just looking in to onenote, and looks to be a very good aternative to a folder with project data PC/paper version. But i have one main issue. At the end of the project it would be usefull to convert the onenote project to a folder structure with pdf files of all the pages and all the sourde files from the cache and hyperlink files. Would it be possible to create such a conversion with the onenote API?
Has anyone found a way to be able to set a note’s time stamp to something other than at half-hour intervals? I like to update the date & time of the note to the date and time of the printout, but it only lets me set them at half-hours (:00 and :30) instead of arbitrary values like :14 or :44.
As a teacher, OneNote has revolutionised the way that I teach and present material. However, a great deal of the time I’m clipping and pasting images from various sources into my teaching notes. I find it incredibly frustrating that there’s no easy way to resize an image to a percentage of the original! You can drag them of course, but there’s no way to have any accuracy when doing that.
Have you ever come across a way to do this? Ideally via a right-click but I’ll take any method that lets me (for example) quickly resize all images on a page to 50% of original.
Been using Onenote since 2007, then upgraded to 2010. The other day I saw a friend using Onenote with ‘Canvas for Onenote’, seemed interesting so I looked it up on the web and tried to download it, but it seems to have disappeared. Where can I find it?
Has anyone else found it impossible to install OneNote 2010 Sort Utility in a Win 7 64-bit machine? Or if successful, any suggestions on how to install the Sort Utility?
I have a problem with internal linking in Onenote. Basically I have a program which generates a whole heap of pages including internal links. (I later insert other material). But I click on the links and they take for ever to work. I get a window saying ‘Searching for section’ and sometimes it finds the section and sometimes I click cancel and then it goes to correct page anyway. I need the links to be instant. Any ideas.
I have been trying to get your clean notebook add-in to work for the last few days. I still can not get it to remove all of the authors for the document. I just want it to leave the notepad with no edit history or author info? is there a way to get it to do that?
Is there a way to share your custom tags across a team. i am trying to convience my team use One note but every one wants my custom tags to use it. How do I share it across to them?!
Could a powertoy be made which allows one to do a “Tags Summary” which is *not* sorted? (Or alternately, “which leaves tagged items *in the order they occurred* originally within their respective notes?”)
Within my notes, I arrange and group my “to do” items in the order I intend, and also have them located under specific subsections / projects. It’s *really* a bummer that I can’t preserve this order in the tag-summary. In fact, it’s pretty crippling to have them re-arranged by date, alphabet, etc, etc.

I just love what you’ve done.

I am trying to find someone who can use the SDK to customize onenote for me. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
